Another great Polyphonic Size performance last friday night in Brussels. This time at the BOUCHE A OREILLE (a very nice venue, actually an ancient convent, with the backstages located in a small chapel !). They played a different track-list from the 2 previous gigs :
Action Man, NBC gmbh, Mother's Little Helper, Girlscout, Mode 2010, Je T'Ai Toujours Aimée, Winston & Julia, Rendez-Vous, Le Rabatteur Des Sectes, Happy Couples, Mongoloïd, King Of Hong Kong / Space Rejection, Night Is Coming On, Nagasaki, Janie Jones (The Clash).
The band now has a very weird new little synthesizer, described by Roger-Marc as being "oscillators, filters, ADSR, etc... from the Korg MS-20, digitized and completed in a 2010 way by our japanese brothers" !
Highlights were (IMO) the new (almost funky) version of Happy Couples, Mode 2010, Mongoloïd (with special guest DJ Dop Massacre, aka the King Of Bxlrockabilly, dressed in SM masked superhero), and Je T'Ai Toujours Aimée (with Alice singing instead of JJ, showing how this song works really well with a female voice). Another special guest was Mika (from Ghinzu), playing bass guitar on 2 tracks.
• Absolutely great review (in french) and pics on Le Blog des critiques de concerts
• And, by the way, see this superb article about Polyphonic Size in LE SOIR (Belgian main newspaper).
SEE YOU AT THE BOTANIQUE NEXT THURSDAY (SEPT 23). CHEERS !
Special thanks to JJ Burnel for his very kind mail before the show. |
